It’s hard to find fault with The Marlborough Tavern. The food is far better than the average gastro pub, and combines generous portions with wonderful local ingredients to achieve superb results. The atmosphere is inviting with a real buzz; the service fast and friendly.

Despite being a pub, you can book a table. Good thing, too, as when we arrived for our 7:30 table on a rainy evening, the place was packed. Not three-deep-at-the-bar-packed, but all the tables were taken and there was a lively atmosphere.
